Join us as the Student Government Association celebrates SUNY Cortland's inaugural Abraham Lincoln DeMond 1889 Day on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Abraham Lincoln DeMond 1889 was SUNY Cortland's first African-American graduate. DeMond became a politically active pastor, delivered an influential address on African-American rights from the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala., the same church from which Martin Luther King Jr. helped launch the civil rights movement more than half a century later.
All are welcome to join in this student-organized event in honor of this historically important member of our alumni community.
Schedule Remarks will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 in the Corey Union Function Room.
Ernest Logan '73, President Emeritus of the American Federation of School Administrators and Cortland College Foundation board member, will deliver the keynote address.
Complimentary refreshments will be provided by the SUNY Cortland Alumni Association. Campus parking lot locations are indicated on this map and open parking is available on this list.
