30-Minute Mentor is your opportunity to connect with an alum. During this session Therno Diallo '16 can help you learn how to navigate the work environment as a person of color. As a participant of the program you will also be given the opportunity to connect with Therno after the program for more mentoring opportunities.
Speaker Therno (pronounced Cheir-no) Diallo '16 joined the Rutgers athletics department in January 2021 as the assistant director for facilities and operations. He will serve as the primary operations manager for women’s soccer, softball, women’s swimming/diving and women’s rowing as well as the secondary contact for men’s basketball. Rutgers is a Division I FBS institution that competes in the Big Ten Conference.
Before accepting his current position at Rutgers, Diallo was the assistant athletics director for events and marketing at DePauw University Prior to his stint there, he served as the C.D. Henry Intern for the Big Ten Conference in Rosemont, Illinois.
Diallo has also spent time with the athletic departments at Francis Marion University, John Jay College, Syracuse University and SUNY Cortland. During his time at SUNY Cortland, he served as the assistant football coach in 2015.
He has been selected to participate in several NCAA professional development programs to further his career in athletics.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Diallo is a 2016 graduate of SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He then received his master’s in sports administration from Canisius College in May 2018. A proud Guinean-American, Diallo’s parents immigrated to this country 27 years ago for a better opportunity.
