The competition is on – to support SUNY Cortland students!

The representatives at the Reunion Committee meetings have agreed that all groups will participate in the Reunion Giving Competition. This fun initiative was created to give all alumni the chance for a little friendly rivalry, something that we know all Red Dragons enjoy!

No matter who wins the awards, the real winners are the current Red Dragons. With state support now less than 25% of SUNY Cortland’s operating budget and the cost of higher education constantly on the rise, your gift is more meaningful than ever. At Cortland, we take pride in offering a low cost, high-quality, nationally recognized education. We couldn’t do it without the ongoing generosity from alumni and we couldn’t be more thankful for your support. We thank you for making your gift today by completing the Reunion form.

Help your Class/Group Set A Record:

During the academic year leading up to reunion (July 1 – June 30), classes and groups compete for the following awards which are presented by the Cortland College Foundation during the Alumni Awards Luncheon on July 8:

The Cortland Cup – largest total reunion class gift to SUNY Cortland
Current Leader: Class of 1967

The Foundation Directors Cup – largest undesignated reunion class gift
Current Leader: Class of 1972*

The Presidents Cup –  highest percentage of participation in giving
Current Leader: Class of 1957

How is your class/group doing? Check out the Reunion Giving Totals as of June 15, 2017.

321 Champions Challenge was a Game Changer

*Louise M. Conley, granddaughter of second president Francis John Cheney, issued a challenge exclusively for reunion classes and groups featured at Alumni Reunion 2017 as part of the 321 Champions Challenge. Louise pledged an undesignated gift of $10,000 to the reunion class or group that has the largest number of donors on March 21. More than 100 reunion celebrants made a gift, but in the end, the Class of 1972 was victorious.

What Counts for Reunion Giving

All cash gifts made during the academic year (July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017) will count towards the reunion gift, regardless of the designation. Additionally, multi-year pledges of $25,000 or more (with payments over five years) will count along with some Planned Gifts and Bequest intentions with proper documentation.
