These awards recognize Cortland alumni for distinguishing themselves in their careers and communities, and/or rendering outstanding service to the College of Alumni Association, thus bringing credit to the alumnus or alumna and honor to the College.
Academic Hall of Fame
Candidates for Academic Hall of Fame membership are first nominated by a faculty member, then considered by a committee consisting of faculty members and administrators from the College’s three schools: arts and sciences, education and professional studies. Student representatives from each school may be recruited for committee service. Currently we are seeking nominations for 2013.
Candidates must have the following criteria:
- Begraduates of SUNY Cortland who maintained grade point averages of 3.50 or higher as undergraduates or 3.70 as graduate students.
- Made a significant contribution to society through their chosen profession.
- Graduated more than 10 years ago.
Distinguished Alumni and Young Distinguished Alumni
The Distinguished Alumni Awards are the highest honors that the Alumni Association bestows on graduates of SUNY Cortland.
Nominations are active for three years, including the year of initial nomination. Those alumni nominated as Distinguished or Distinguished Young Alumni since 2012 who have not received awards do not have to be nominated again.
Nominations for the 2015 awards can be submitted by completing the Nomination Form.
Honorary Alumni are nominated by the College and the Cortland College Alumni Association. The Awards, Scholarship and Recognition Committee of the Alumni Association Board of Directors make the final decision.
Outstanding Alumni Volunteers
The Outstanding Alumni Volunteer Award recognizes significant volunteerism on the behalf of SUNY Cortland alumni to SUNY Cortland. The Scholarship and Awards Committee of the Alumni Association Board of Directors makes the final decision. Nominations for the 2015 awards can be submitted by completing the Nomination Form.
